What the Diverter Valve Does

The diverter valve in a combi boiler directs hot water either to the central heating system or to the domestic hot water taps. When you turn on a hot water tap, the diverter valve switches from heating mode to DHW mode. A failed valve leaves you without hot water or with lukewarm water.

Signs of Diverter Valve Failure

Central heating works fine but hot water is lukewarm or cold, hot water temperature fluctuates, the boiler makes a clunking sound when switching modes, or water flows from both heating and DHW when only one is called for.

Replacement Cost
